Dive Bar Engagement Photos & a Laundromat Photoshoot in Michigan

Home » Blog » Dive Bar Engagement Photos & a Laundromat Photoshoot in Michigan

Hannah and Benjamin’s dive bar engagement photos with a laundromat photoshoot to follow was exactly the kind of session I love most: personal, laid-back, and full of tiny details that made it feel like their actual life.

We started at The Evening Post Bar & Grill, their local dive bar where they love playing pull tabs together. After that, we headed to a cute little laundromat with cool tile for something more artsy and different. Hannah noticed a duck coat sitting in my car, which I had bought for my own branding photos and planned to return. It ended up being the perfect random addition to the session. It all felt film-inspired, cinematic, romantic, moody, a little Midwest grunge, and completely them.

Michigan Dive Bar Engagement Photos at Their Favorite Local Spot

We started Hannah and Benjamin’s dive bar engagement photos outside The Evening Post Bar & Grill in Clare. It was dark by then, with that small-town Midwest glow that made everything feel a little moody.

Then we headed inside for drinks, and of course, pull tabs. Hannah and Benjamin like to come here to play pull tabs, so it only felt right. It really made for the kind of photos that only work because the place actually means something to them. It made the whole session feel less like posing in a pretty place and more like documenting a little piece of their actual life.

An Artsy Laundromat Photoshoot With the Coolest Tile

For their laundromat photoshoot, we chose the spot for the vibe and the flooring. Sometimes a location just has the right weird little magic, and here for it! The tile, the colors, and the everyday details gave the photos this artsy, Midwest grunge feeling that I loved.

I also loved the duck coat on Hannah. I bought it for my own branding photos, didn’t end up loving it for myself, and it was sitting in my car waiting to be returned. Hannah noticed it, tried it on, and it became the perfect random addition to the shoot.

I’m always down for a traditional location if that feels like you. But I’m also very into taking something ordinary and making it feel personal and fully your own. This laundromat photoshoot was such a good example of that.

From Dive Bar Engagement Photos to a Laundromat Photoshoot, Your Session Can Be Yours

Hannah and Benjamin’s session is the perfect reminder that your engagement photos can be whatever you want them to be. Dive bar engagement photos. A laundromat photoshoot. Or even at-home engagement photos. Your favorite place to get fries. Somewhere fancy, somewhere ordinary, somewhere that makes absolutely no sense to anyone else but feels like part of your actual life together.

Your engagement session doesn’t need to be expensive or somewhere impressive to matter. It just needs to feel like you.
